Lahore: Dr. Paul Bhatti, Advisor to Prime Minister on National Harmony, called on President Asif Ali Zardari at Aiwan-e-Sadr today.
Dr. Paul briefed the President about the steps taken and the future plans for the promotion of interfaith harmony and interfaith dialogue in the country. The President reiterated Government’s commitment to promote interfaith harmony on one hand and to bring qualitative change towards minorities through safeguarding their constitutional rights.
Islamabad: Adviser to Prime Minister for National Harmony Dr. Paul Bhatti has said the students are the hope of the nation and guarantee of the bright future of the country and urged them to work hard for the promotion of peace, interfaith harmony and economic uplift of the society.
Dr. Paul expressed these views while addressing Prefects’ oath taking ceremony at St. Mary’s School Rawalpindi here on Wednesday.
He stressed upon them to be ready to play their role to change the destiny of the nation and put it on the road to progress and prosperity through hard work and transform the country in accordance with the ideals of Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Iqbal in a real sense.
Peace is necessary for the development of the country and socio-economic uplift of the marginalized class of the society, which can be achieved by promoting interfaith harmony so that the people of different faiths can sit together and work for the welfare of the nation, he added.
He said you have the talent and ability to restore the lost image of the motherland in international community and make it a greater country.
He said history is witness to this fact that those nations which made hardworking, honesty and sincerity their motto, achieved high status. I hope that the Pakistani youth would also develop the country with the same spirit.
Bishop of Rawalpindi and Islamabad Diocese, Bishop Rufin Anthony in his address on the occasion hailed the role of Dr. Paul Bhatti for his services and efforts to solve the issues and problems of the minorities of Pakistan and his contribution in promoting interfaith harmony providing an opportunity to create an environment for building up peace and socio-economic development in the country.
At the end of the ceremony Br. Patras Bhatti, the Principal of St. Mary’s School informed about the contribution of the institution in spreading education and thanked Adviser to Prime Minister Dr. Paul Bhatti for securing time for the institution and students to grace the occasion.

“Social media like Facebook, Twitter and Youtube are playing a vital role to bring social and political change in the world leading towards revolutions for better reforms,” Paul Bhatti said.
He said, “Besides using social media for fun activities, it can also be utilized for social and economic development in a positive way through involvement in civil society.”
“Some factors are also using social media as a tool for propaganda to create hatred among religious communities instead of exploring ways to use this powerful medium to create better relations and understanding between different religions,” he added.
He termed the new generation as a precious asset and guarantee of bright future and urged the youth to play their role for changing the destiny of the nation for socio-economic uplift of the country.

The Shahbaz Bhatti Memorial Trust was established April 2011, soon after the assassination of Martyr Shahbaz Clement Bhatti. Shahbaz dreamed to see a society that was free where all people were treated with human dignity and respect, with equal opportunities, irrespective of their gender, religion, social status and ethnicity. His mission was to love the most vulnerable and marginalized in society.
It is his brother, Paul Jacob Bhatti’s desire and commitment to continue with his vision and mission. Appropriately, the Shahbaz Bhatti Memorial Trust (SBMT) was inaugurated, on Minorities day in Pakistan, on 11 August 2011, by His Excellency President Asif Ali Zardari. This was a day initiated nationally in Pakistan by the late Federal Minister for Minorities, Shahbaz Bhatti.
Paul Bhatti is the current Chairman of the Shahbaz Bhatti Memorial Trust (SBMT) along with five board members of which three are designated as vice-chairman, secretary, and cashier.
SBMT vision will be carried out through the following main objectives:
